Frequently
Asked Questions
Some of our most commonly asked questions about Chiropractic
are answered for your review.
- How long does
an evaluation take?
An evaluation in our office takes 35-45 minutes. Typically,
filling out new Practice Member paperwork adds the most
time to your initial visit. Please download and print
your new Practice Member paperwork from our website
to expedite your visit. We pride ourselves on being
an extremely punctual office so please arrive for your
appointment 5 minutes early…I promise you this is not
your typical doctors’ office experience!
- Do you take insurance?
No, we do not take insurance. The insurance companies
pay our patients directly. Our fees are extremely affordable
– less than most insurance co-payments. If we accepted
insurance our fees would increase…so, we do not participate
which enables us to offer the care we feel is best for
you, not what your insurance dictates.
- How much does
an adjustment cost?
We do not structure our fees on a per visit charge.
Chiropractic is, in our opinion, best utilized with
regular adjustments, similar to exercise…one workout
does not get you in shape, and typically, neither does
one adjustment. Based on your evaluation findings, we
will give you our best recommendation for your care.
Care plans in our office range from $69-$299 per month.
The frequency of your adjustments is determined by the
severity and number of subluxations in your spine.
- Will you adjust
me on the first visit?
We prefer not to, here is why. Your health is our
main priority. We would never risk your health without
thoroughly evaluating the results from your first visit
in our office. We have a minimum of 2 doctors review
each case in our office. At your first visit, we will
collect all of your information along with any necessary
scans or x-rays. We will then schedule a follow-up visit
in the next day or two to review the results of your
evaluation, answer any new questions, and give you your
first adjustment in our office.
- When will I feel
better?
Everyone is different. We wish we could somehow
predict how fast your body will heal, but there are
several factors involved. Our focus is to remove any
blockages to your body’s nerve supply caused by spinal
shifts called subluxations. All cellular repairs are
controlled and coordinated by your central nerve system.
Therefore, our goal is to maximize expression of life
through the adjustment. How quickly this translates
into you feeling better is different in each person
based on things like degenerative (arthritic) changes,
your age, exercise habits, stress levels, diet, and
the number of medications you take, just to name a few
variables.
- Do you take Medicare
or Medicaid?
Medicare and Medicaid are not covered in our office.
Medicare has deemed our services as “wellness care”
and therefore does not contribute to care in our office.
- Do you take X-Rays?
Yes, we prefer to know exactly what is happening with
the structure of your spine before we give you an adjustment.
We also utilize post x-rays at certain intervals in
your care plan. Most people appreciate the fact of knowing
and seeing exactly what is wrong with their spine. We
prefer to objectively measure progress in your spine
achieved through care in our office, and the post x-rays
are a great way to do this! Post x-rays also hold us
accountable to our Practice Members, and allow us to
track the exciting changes happening in your spine.
- What adjusting
technique do you use?
Our work is based on a technique called CBP
(Chiropractic Bio-Physics), which focuses on correcting
shifts in your spinal column. With gentle, specific
precision, we use a combination of drop tables, adjusting
instruments and traditional diversified adjustments
with that “pop” many people associate with Chiropractic.
Part of our initial evaluation is to learn of any concerns
you may have about adjustments and address them, so
we can find the most comfortable and effective way for
you to get adjusted.
- I do not like
my neck popped – What can you do for me?
We utilize drop tables and adjusting instruments
that are gentle and effective…no popping necessary!
- I like my neck
popped – What can you do for me?
We are highly skilled in performing traditional
adjustments once we have determined those types of adjustments
are right for you.
- How many times
do I need to be seen?
This depends on the severity of your subluxations,
and the level of degenerative (arthritic) changes present.
After your initial evaluation, we will know the answer
to this and we will go over this with you when you return
to go over the results of your first visit.
- How old or young
should somebody be to receive care?
Our oldest client is 94 years old, and most weeks
we adjust newborns as well. 30% of our practice is composed
of children. This is because many of our Practice Members
want their children to reach their full potential, and
100% nerve supply is a vital part of that equation.
- Once you start
going to the Chiropractor, do you have to go forever?
No, there is no lifetime contract. Practice Members
leave care when they like. No, Chiropractic is not addictive,
unless you consider a desire for better health to be
unhealthy. Yes, you should have Chiropractic care for
as long as you wish to function on an optimal basis
and experience true quality of life, physically, mentally
and socially, which to a sane person is a lifetime affair.
Funny, nobody ever asks the dentist this question.
- Is Chiropractic
dangerous?
Chiropractic is vastly safer than any drug or medical
procedure. Chiropractic malpractice premiums are miniscule
compared to those paid by MD’s. When a chiropractor
makes a mistake, nothing (as opposed to a good result)
happens, or one might end up a little sore. Compare
this to these frightening statistics for the other team.
It has been estimated that over 110,000 people die each
year in this country from prescription drugs taken in
the “controlled medical environment.” About 2 million
hospital patients a year (between 5-10% of the hospital
population) acquire a nosocomial (from the hospital)
infection, from which there are between 100,000 and
300,000 deaths. It has been estimated there are between
3 million and 6.25 million unnecessary surgeries performed
annually, resulting in between 40,000 and 83,000 unnecessary
deaths. With these staggering numbers, more and more
families are turning to Chiropractic each and every
day.
- Chiropractors
are quacks! “I tried Chiropractic and it didn’t work.”
Yes, there are chiropractors that are quacks, thieves
and lunatics. However, there are medical doctors that
are quacks, thieves and lunatics, but they “blend in”
better. If you went to a bad dentist, you would look
for another one rather than waiting for your teeth to
fall out. If you went to a bad restaurant, would you
quit eating? If your plumber couldn’t fix a broken pipe
in your house, are you going to let your house flood?
No! So, if you have been to a bad chiropractor, find
yourself a better one. (P.S. In cases where “Chiropractic
didn’t work,” I find that 9 out of 10 times, the Chiropractor
wasn’t even serious enough about Chiropractic, and your
well-being, to take x-rays and provide a detailed plan
of care for you.)
